Dear Old Choristers,
Forgive me writing en masse, but I am wondering whether any of you might be willing to pen a short testimonial in relation to being a chorister, and what it bought you / your families as an experience? As you will be aware, like all Cathedrals the UK, revenue has plummeted during the pandemic. We are now looking to put in place a number of different large scale fund-raising actions over the next year as part of the cathedral’s push on philanthropic giving; the aim of this is to help ensure that the choir is something that remains in the form that we know, love and recognise, and that the distinctive choral heritage that we have here continues for future generations of musicians and worshippers. With this in mind, later in the year we plan to launch a Sponsor a Chorister Scheme and, as part of the literature we will put together for companies and potential sponsors to read, we would like to include quotes from those for whom the chorister experience has been something really life-forming and changing and, most importantly, rewarding and enjoyable! If you feel able, and this concurs with your experience, and if you have 20 minutes to spare to write something, please send it over to me. |
There’s no set format or content, with the exception that your first name would be used at the end of the quote. We simply invite positive comments, which we hope will inspire people to donate in the knowledge that they are supporting something which supports musical education for all regardless of background, gives back to the community, makes confident leaders of the future who have a passion and enthusiasm for music and the arts, and continues to celebrate the Glory of God through the gift of song.
As always, if you have any other feedback, please do feel free to share them with me too. Thank you for reading, Tansy Tansy Castledine Director of Music, Peterborough Cathedral [email protected] 01733 355 318 |
